Olympic Quarter Neighborhood Initiative:
Important invitation: prepared for emergencies together
Dear neighbours,
The government asks residents to increase their resilience and better prepare for emergencies, such as prolonged power outages, extreme weather, floods, water failures, and other disruptive situations.
The government advises every household to have a basic emergency kit at home. The Central Government website lists the minimum items recommended for this:

Municipalities are collaborating with safety regions on pilots to establish emergency response points. These points could be deployed if an emergency situation persists for an extended period. A key pillar of this approach is strengthening existing communities and neighborhoods, combined with encouraging residents to make preparations themselves.
We have therefore taken the initiative to set up a joint emergency plan within the De Winnaar building in the Olympic Quarter. The goal is to be better organized as neighbors for situations where we might need each other and to be able to manage certain matters better together than individually.
In emergency situations, a wide range of skills can be of great value. Think, for example, of medical knowledge, first aid, technical or electrical knowledge, water management, plumbing, communication, organization, or other practical experience.
Therefore, we would like to ask you to help us identify which residents might need extra help in an emergency situation and which residents can make a difference for others. You can also indicate whether you would like to contribute your thoughts to a working group focusing on specific topics, drawing on your knowledge, experience, or expertise.
We have created a digital form that you can fill out online. Click the button below to complete the form. Do this before June 7, 2026
If this works well within our building, we will roll it out further in the neighborhood together with other residents. We are already in discussions with various residents about this.
Do you have any questions regarding this letter? If so, you can indicate this on the form
Kind regards and thank you in advance for your cooperation!
Greetings from a number of neighbors from Eosstraat
